Can y’all believe it’s almost, basically summer?!? While we’re not so excited for those triple-digit temps, we’re SO glad the sun stays up a little longer each day, giving us ample time + sunshine to enjoy a glass of wine (or two) after work and unwind. Probably on a patio.
Similar to brunch, I more or less live for happy hour – well, we both do, as do I think all of our friends. Long day at work? Happy hour. Got a promotion or completed a big project? Happy hour. Basically, happy hour is the answer to any of our work-week questions, and now, you can find us at Water Grill sipping wine + eating oysters.
We’re so glad to have this California transplant (it seems like we’re getting a lot of those these days??) in the heart of Uptown off of McKinney Ave. It’s a truly stunning restaurant if you’ve never seen the inside, and every meal we’ve had (dinner, brunch + happy hour) has been nothing short of incredible.
Although Water Grill is a little on the pricier side, happy hour is the perfect time to experience what the restaurant has to offer, but without breaking the bank. With an extensive HH menu including discounted prices on oysters, a wagyu cheeseburger with fries, crab cakes and mussles, you could easily make a substantial meal out of what’s available for MUCH less than what you would pay at dinner.
We paired the oysters with glasses of the Pratsch Grüner Veltliner from Austria – it was so light and refreshing. And because if there’s wagyu + bacon on the menu, we’re ordering it, we shared the wagyu cheeseburger after the oysters. The burger was SO. GOOD. This may sound crazy for a seafood restaurant, but Water Grill’s bacon is some of the best we’ve ever had (it comes on the bloody mary at brunch !!)
If you work in Uptown, especially in the new McKinney & Olive building, you have zero excuses not to pop over after work one day – just let us know so we can join you 🙂 you can nosh + sip from the HH menu from 3-6 pm, Monday – Friday!
PS. If you end up staying for dinner, be sure to order the soft-shell crab – if they still have it!
Thank you to Water Grill for having us in – as always, opinions are our own!
