Hi y’all. Currently in the real world shamelessly daydreaming of pool days, plush hotel beds and no wake-up calls. We recently spent a few fun-filled days at The Omni Dallas, and the staycation left us feeling totally relaxed and reset. We also just returned from a trip abroad and were reminded that finding a vacay in your own backyard beats dealing with nightmarish security lines!
The amazing thing about Dallas is that while it may be home to us, it’s a destination to many. So, for the times we need to get away and can’t book a flight or plan a road trip, there’s sure to be a staycation around the corner. The Omni is a Downtown oasis that boasts more than a few reasons to “staycay,” including a spa, a pool, a handful of delicious restaurants and amazing hospitality.
We were welcomed to The Omni with this super cute cheese board that was totally on brand. LOVE the attention to detail. The 23rd floor has killer views of Downtown, which were clearly photogenic.
Started the first day off with a little time in the gym doing some of our favorite pre-pool workouts like ones found here, here, and here! Then, we ate breakfast in bed – in the hotel robes, of course – and headed to the pool for a day of sun. The pool also overlooks downtown, and would be the perfect spot for a girls’ trip or a bachelorette party!
After a little (too much) sun, we headed up to the room to get ready for dinner. There is honestly zero reason to leave the hotel for food – Bob’s Steak & Chop House, Texas Spice and The Owners’ Box are all located inside the hotel, and right in front of the hotel sits a little row of restaurants with anything you could imagine, from a biergarten to Mexican food to pizza, you’re set.
We decided to dine at Texas Spice for an innovative, fresh take on Texas cuisine. Fun fact: the farm-to-market concept was the first Dallas restaurant to receive Green Restaurant Association certification. So, not only will you get an amazing meal with fresh, local ingredients, you can also feel good about eating at this green-focused, sustainable spot.
The dinner menu is full of interesting takes on classic, homemade meals. For us, that meant a couple of one-of-a-kind flatbreads – duh. The chef brought out a special flatbread topped with wild boar from Paducha, Texas, and the smoked brisket flatbread loaded with roasted peppers, onions and bleu cheese. YUM. Dessert was a classic cheesecake AND a peanut butter toffee chocolate pie. Because why choose one?
The next morning before leaving, we headed to the beautiful spa for an amazing massage. The spa was so relaxing and had all of the amenities you could need – we probably could’ve stayed all day, but unfortunately had to check-out.
We decided to keep adventuring after leaving the hotel and headed to the Farmers Market, which is just a couple minute away from the hotel. With multiple little restaurants and vendors inside, as well as fresh fruits, veggies, eggs and sweets in The Shed, we spent the better part of the day roaming around, sipping wine from Scardello and tasting ALL of the samples. It was the perfect ending to a perfect staycation!
Whether you live in Dallas or the burbs, spending the weekend at The Omni gives you vacation vibes without the stress (and pricetag) of traveling somewhere else. Visit Dallas also has a great list of hotel suggestions (found here) if you want to try somewhere else!
