If you’ve been following us for, well any amount of time, you can easily tell we’re hardly – okay, never – in front of the camera. We can shoot burgers, cheese boards, beautiful scenery, macarons and s’mores all day, but would totally freeze up on the other side of the lens. So, you have to understand that not just anyone could convince us to do a full-on photo shoot. Maybe it was the wine or the creative juices flowing, but after a girls’ night happy hour with the boss babes of Beckley & Co., Becca and Alex, Kelsie and I were totally on board with facing the cam for the day.
Our brainstorming sesh with Becca and Alex was so much fun, and we easily settled on a concept – A Day in The Life of Pizza + Champs. Maybe not an *everyday* day, but an *ideal* day…as much as we’d love to live the fabulous life portrayed in these pics, we’ve got that whole 9 to 5 thing we have to do. Alex, the styling guru of the duo, came over a couple weeks before the shoot to scour our closets and outfit plan. We generally stick to a uniform of all black everything, but she thankfully forced us out of our wardrobe comfort zones.
Becca and Alex pretty much hit the nail on the head when it came to mapping out what a perfect day to us would be. Breakfast in bed, lunch on a patio, and our favorite meal at our favorite place (our couch). Let me preface this by saying, props to Beckley & Co. for tolerating our awkwardness and making us look 1,000 times less awkward than we actually are.
We started the day with one of our go-to weekend breakfasts, Ezekiel toast topped with avo and/or PB + fruit. SO easy and SO much better than my weekday microwaved office oatmeal. Coffee + music + mags + toast. Yas.
Next up was lunch at one of our favorite spots in Dallas, Mercat Bistro. If you haven’t been to Mercat yet, put it on your list. Amazing French fare in the most adorable setting. Of course champs and croissants were involved. And btw, it’s tough to look poised and cute when you’re very invested in the bread basket in front of you.
The last setting was way too fun and way too real. We got all dressed up…and decided to stay in for the night. Because, canceled plans are the best plans. And, who needs to go out when you can have the best pizza in the city, Cane Rosso, delivered straight to your doorstep? In the most obvious and perfect way, we ended the day back in our comfort zone – kicking back and making a mess with pizza and champagne in our apt.
We can’t rave enough about how awesome Beckley & Co. was through the whole process. They made us feel right at home (literally) and really brought our vision to life. Blogger friends and readers in need of photogs – hit up these talented girls, you’ll have a blast.
