To us, there is nothing that embodies a Texas summer more than firing up the grill (or, um, watching someone else do it), and grilling dinner in the backyard after a long day in the pool. We literally crave BBQs this time of year – from hamburgers to veggies to steaks to s’mores, grilling = summer, and we recently had *the* best day of BBQ thanks to Toyota.
Hi y’all. Currently in the real world shamelessly daydreaming of pool days, plush hotel beds and no wake-up calls. We recently spent a few fun-filled days at The Omni Dallas, and the staycation left us feeling totally relaxed and reset. We also just returned from a trip abroad and were reminded that finding a vacay in your own backyard beats dealing with nightmarish security lines!
The amazing thing about Dallas is that while it may be home to us, it’s a destination to many. So, for the times we need to get away and can’t book a flight or plan a road trip, there’s sure to be a staycation around the corner. The Omni is a Downtown oasis that boasts more than a few reasons to “staycay,” including a spa, a pool, a handful of delicious restaurants and amazing hospitality.
Tuesdays are my favorite. It’s like I’ve finally shaken off the weekend, powered through the drag of Monday and am officially ready to attack the week. I might like them more than Friday? On Fridays I’m too antsy to escape the office. We planned on spending this past Sunday cooking and cleaning, but decided brunch on Pie Tap’s patio sounded MUCH better. It was a great decision because we discovered their brunch mushroom pizza (topped with an egg) – and it’s a new fave.
Yall, it’s been a busy few weeks. Between birthday celebrations, events galore, and welcoming summer with tons of patio time – the Aziz girls have been goin’ nonstop. We go through these stages where some weeks we love being busy all the time and others we want to avoid social interaction at all costs. Anyone else constantly switch from socialite to shut-in like us?!
This past weekend was the perfect balance of busy and relaxing since we enjoyed a staycation at The Omni (more on that later!) Although we wish we could’ve stayed in those big plush hotel beds a leeetle longer, we’re gearing up for another fun-filled week!
Today’s SUPER fun agenda included unpacking and grocery shopping. While I’m scouring the web for new meal-prep ideas that aren’t chicken and veggies, I’ve rounded up a few things we’re loving these days.
…starting with this new happy hour situation at Ocean Prime. Stop by on weekdays from 4 to 7 p.m. for post-work wine and new delicious bites like Baked Oysters Bingo and Short Rib Gouda Tots (YES)
Have you guys survived the week? I think we’re still recovering from last weekend when we celebrated Lexi’s birthday (the big 2-5!!) – we had dinner at Komali and ate pizza and champagne (of course) for brunch at Chelsea Corner – a lot of good food.. and drinks.
Side note: if you’ve followed us lately, you know we’re obsessed with the newly re-opened Chelsea Corner. If you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out – the new back patio is perfect for summer!
We’ve started to incorporate more ~lifestyle~ on our Instagram and wanted to do a quick Insta round-up so you can shop some of our favorite outfits lately! A lot of our go-tos are on sale: like these wedges and these shorts!
Hope y’all have the best weekend!! We have a fun staycation planned, so follow along on Insta stories to see where we’re staying and what we’ll be doing! If you’re looking for weekend plans, try one of our favorite patios or cool down with these dishes/drinks.
Can y’all believe it’s almost, basically summer?!? While we’re not so excited for those triple-digit temps, we’re SO glad the sun stays up a little longer each day, giving us ample time + sunshine to enjoy a glass of wine (or two) after work and unwind. Probably on a patio.
Similar to brunch, I more or less live for happy hour – well, we both do, as do I think all of our friends. Long day at work? Happy hour. Got a promotion or completed a big project? Happy hour. Basically, happy hour is the answer to any of our work-week questions, and now, you can find us at Water Grill sipping wine + eating oysters.
Summer is alllmost here, and we’re afraid it’s going to be an *extra* hot one in Dallas (I think we say that every summer?!). We normally spend the summers going from one air-conditioned place to the next, or sitting in the pool with a cold beer and/or marg in hand. And, obviously, because our lives revolve around food, we like to eat (and drink) refreshing dishes in an attempt to keep our mind off of the insane heat.
Luckily, Dallas has no shortage of cool dishes and drinks, and we’ve rounded up some of our favorites for ya!
Summer is on the horizon, and with it comes patio season. The warm weather is gradually blowing in, we’re sloughing off the winter blues, and the sun stays up a bit longer for us to get a little extra Vitmamin D. While some may celebrate the arrival of the season with outdoors-y activities like lake days or exploring the Cedar Ridge Preserve, we prefer to do what we do best – eat and drink all the things.
To help you take advantage of the long, sunny Summer days, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite Dallas patios for sittin’ and sippin’. Between refreshing margs, bomb bbq and too many quesos to count, these Dallas spots are serving up more than sunshine.
Happy Monday, y’all! We’re (way) more excited for this Monday than normal, because we’re officially kicking off a fun Instagram contest with VisitDallas, and for those of you who live in the area – we think you’ll be excited about this too 🙂
Growing up in the Dallas suburbs and now living in Uptown, it’s been exciting to see the area grow so much, so quickly. However, on the weekends we’re not traveling, we kind of just get stuck in the same Dallas rut – brunching at the same restaurants, visiting the same places, which is ridiculous considering how much our city has to offer! One of the things we’re frequently asked is not just, “where should I eat in Dallas?” but specifically, “what’s a good date spot?” Whether it’s our guy friends, our girlfriends planning date night, or uh, occasionally the guys we’re dating, we’re asked a. lot.
Luckily, there are no shortage of solid restaurant options for any type of dating occasion. Be it first date, casual date, fancy af date – we’ve got your needs covered! Can’t promise you lasting dating advice, but we can be sure you eat + drink well.
