Friendsgiving is easily one of our favorite new traditions. Each of us started hosting Friendsgiving parties in college as a way to celebrate the friends who feel like family… and as an excuse to eat more than one Thanksgiving meal. Although, we quickly learned that pulling together the feast is a lot easier said than done. After last year’s seriously overdone turkey, we decided to take a few shortcuts and let Eatzi’s do the work for our first Friendsgiving of the season. Less dirty dishes. Less turkey faux pas. More time to relax and drink wine.
Let me just say, God bless our mother for making every Thanksgiving look effortless and always executing an amazing spread. (Except for that one year she accidentally put cream of chicken in the green bean casserole. People don’t forget.) After an entire day of rotating casseroles in and out of the oven, an overcooked turkey and an undercooked pie- we felt defeated and so appreciative of mom’s Turkey Day skills. Thankfully (pun intended), we felt a little more confident inviting our girls over for Friendsgiving this year with the help of Eatzis.
We’re usually all about the homemade meals, but Eatzi’s Thanksgiving menu won us over with the easy process and delicious gourmet classics. The hardest part of the whole meal was narrowing down which sides to go with. Then you just pick it up, quickly prep it, pour the wine and pass the plates. We gave the meal a little homemade touch by transferring the food into simple serving dishes, but you could totally heat and serve everything out of the Eatzi’s containers. If you’re looking for minimal dish-washing time, we suggest the latter.
Between two types of turkey and stuffing, 10 different sides, and a handful of breads and desserts to choose from, there’s no shortage of options for your Friendsgiving spread. Eatzi’s can do no wrong, so I’m confident any combo you choose (one of everything?) will be amazing. But, in my personal opinion, the Sweet Potato Chocolate Chess Pie is a must for dessert. We didn’t even know we liked sweet potato pie until we couldn’t stop eating this velvety, chocolate-y pie hybrid.
Aside from some simple Thanksgiving decorations and pretty serving platters, you can add a special touch to Friendsgving by prepping easy hors d’ vours and a specialty cocktail for guests to enjoy while the food is in the oven.
Be sure to order your Friendsgiving feast from Eatzi’s before November 22 for a simple, fuss-free holiday meal that leaves you less time in the kitchen and more time catching up with friends.
