It’s finally without a doubt the best time of the year. And while we seriously cannot wait to get to Germany for Christmas (read: can’t wait to go to the Christmas markets), Dallas has more than enough to do during the holidays to keep us occupied. Below is compilation of a few of our favorite things to do in Dallas this month!
Got anything you think we should add? Let us know!
The 12 Days at Night at the Dallas Arboretum
When: Sundays – Thursdays, now – January 3, 2016 (special weekend nights: Dec. 5, Dec. 11, Dec. 18, Dec. 26 and Jan. 2)
Where: Dallas Arboretum
Price: $20 non-members, $12 members – tickets here or at the gate
Go because… the Arboretum knows how to celebrate, and Christmas time is no different. The Arboretum holiday display features 12 insanely decorated gazebos that follow the beloved Christmas carol, and that beautiful Christmas tree seen above. At night, the gazebos light up, making it that much more magical. We went during the day time, and it was beautiful, so we can only imagine what it looks like at night!
Shoppes on Hi Line Holiday Market
When: Saturday, December 5 from 9 am – 3 pm
Where: Dallas Design District, 1617 Hi Line Drive
Go because… with local vendors and food trucks with delicious bites (and drinks), it’s the perfect opportunity to stock up on presents for family and friends… and yourself.
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Movie Party
When: December 3 at 7 pm; December 12 at 8 pm
Where: Alamo Drafthouse (Richardson)
Price: $13, tickets here
Go because… is it REALLY Christmas if you don’t watch this movie? Absolutely not. And, if you haven’t been to a movie at Alamo Drafthouse, this is the perfect excuse, especially because there will be surprises throughout the movie and special props for the audience. We recommend grabbing your tickets in advance, because this will sell out!
Whiskey Cake’s Repeal Day Celebration
When: December 5 at 5 pm
Where: Whiskey Cake (Plano)
Price: Free with drink specials all night
Go because… December isn’t just for celebrating the holidays. An equally important celebration is Repeal Day aka the day that Prohibition ended. Whiskey Cake is one of our favorite spots in DFW, and we have full confidence they will throw one of the best Repeal Day celebrations – we can’t wait to try the cocktail specials, including the French 75 and Gin Rickey.
Klyde Warren Park Holiday Celebration
When: December 5, noon – 6 pm
Where: Klyde Warren Park
Go because… this is the perfect way to celebrate the holidays with the family. Food trucks, pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus, live reindeer, music, and a the tree lighting at 5:45 pm are the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit.
When: December 13 at 8 p..m.
Where: Henry’s Majestic
Price: $25 for tickets, $10 per drink – tickets here (21+ up)
Go because… we’ve been looking forward to this event for a solid two months. Trigger’s Toys is a charitable pop-up event that features five unique “bars” all under one roof – and who’s behind each bar? One hundred of Texas’ best bartenders (think Parliament, Ida Claire, Midnight Rambler) and top-notch brands and distributors. Essentially, Henry’s Majestic will be transformed for one night, and feature five different bars and concepts that serve up delicious cocktails. The best part? It’s ALL for charity, and the money helps children in local hospitals have the best Christmas possible. Count us in.
We hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed holiday! xoxo
