One of the things we’re frequently asked is not just, “where should I eat in Dallas?” but specifically, “what’s a good date spot?” Whether it’s our guy friends, our girlfriends planning date night, or uh, occasionally the guys we’re dating, we’re asked a. lot.
Luckily, there are no shortage of solid restaurant options for any type of dating occasion. Be it first date, casual date, fancy af date – we’ve got your needs covered! Can’t promise you lasting dating advice, but we can be sure you eat + drink well.
Keeping it Casual:
CANE ROSSO: Quickly becoming a Dallas staple, this is the perfect spot to grab a pie and some drinks to wind down with your S/O after a long day.
MIA’S TEX-MEX: Tuck into this casual family-owned spot off of Lemmon Ave. and grab a table for two for some of the best brisket tacos in town. The margaritas don’t disappoint, either.
ASCENSION: A versatile date spot – whether you’re wanting to grab coffee to get to know someone, brunch after a long night out, or wine after work, Ascension is the answer.
SMOKY ROSE: Treat your boo to carafes of rose and smoked wings (wine + wings = best date) on Smoky Rose’s gorgeous patio, then head to the Arboretum or take a walk around White Rock Lake
Liven it Up:
VICTOR TANGO’S: This dimly lit Knox/Henderson spot has date night written all over it. Order a few things to share and don’t skip out on the cocktails – they’re some of the best in Dallas.
MOXIE’S: Solid chance you’ll see us any given day of the week if you go to Moxie’s, it’s one of our go-to’s – for drinks, dinner, brunch, you name it, the food and drinks are consistently good and the atmosphere is lively.
AMERICANO: Tucked inside The Joule, the space is chic and the food is on point. The arancini are a must, so are the negronis and an if-things-go-well-after-date cocktail downstairs at Midnight Rambler.
JAVIER’S: There’s rarely a quiet night at Javier’s. This Dallas mainstay serves ~elevated~ Mexican food, some mean margaritas and plenty of people watching. If you and your boo find yourself on a long waitlist, slip next door to the cigar bar and settle down near the fireplace for intimate pre-dinner drinks (or a couple of tequila shots to quell the first-date jitters?)
Ball on a Budget:
PIE TAP: On Mondays, you and your date can snag a bottle of wine for half-off with the purchase of a pie or pasta dish. This is definitely one of our new favorite restaurants in town, and the food is amazing. OR on Tuesdays, grab a pizza for only $10. Impress your date, eat amazing pizza, save a few dollars – win-win-win.
ANTONIO RISTORANTE: This cozy, authentic Italian spot is well worth the trip down the Tollway to Addison. The entire menu of classic, homemade dishes is simply amazing, and the restaurant is a DREAM for wine-o’s. The owner has curated an impressive and expansive list of unique Italian wines – all priced to perfection. Make a reservation for “Tasting Tuesdays” and indulge in a three-course tasting/pairing for only 20 bucks per person!
POK THE RAW BAR: For only $35/person, you can have an exclusive chef’s tasting course inside this new poke hotspot. Chef Jimmy Park (formerly a Nobu chef, so he knows his stuff), will serve you the freshest and most flavorful sushi, sashimi and ngiri. There’s also a “de-lite” version for only $26/person. Considering comparable tastings at other restaurants can run you upwards of $100/person, we suggest you grab your date ASAP and snag a seat with Chef Jimmy.
CHAMBERLAIN’S: One of the best kept secrets in town and easiest ways to get a high-quality steak at an affordable price? Sign up for Chamberlain’s e-newsletter – Chamberlain’s Fish Market and Chamberlain’s Steak & Chop House will frequently send out random deals for specials like half-off entrees. The perfect excuse for a spontaneous date night.
First Date to Impress
MIRADOR: Located in the heart of downtown in the swanky Forty Five Ten, Mirador’s ambiance, amazing patio views and food will impress your date. If you don’t get a second date, it definitely won’t be because of your restaurant choice 😉
TOWN HEARTH: Nick Badovinus quietly opened this one-of-a-kind restaurant in the Design District a couple of months ago, and it’s now one of the most in-demand tables in town. Your date will be wow-ed from the moment y’all step in the door – the over-the-top space with a submarine, 64 chandeliers and Ducati Sport impress almost as much as the food and drinks do.
WATER GRILL: This California-based restaurant serves some of the best seafood around in a seriously cool spot. Between the fresh oysters, nautical themed decor and the sprawling patio, you’ll almost forget you’re in Dallas.
AL BIERNAT’S: If you’re willing to shell out some $$$ for a first date (or really, any date), this iconic restaurant is your spot. Cozy up in a booth and dine on perfectly cooked steaks, lobster and end it on a sweet note with the coconut cream pie.
